Integrating Internal Family Systems into the Play Therapy Practice

This training is hands on, didactic, and integrative Play Therapy Training.  This workshop is grounded in the theories of  CCCPT and Adlerian Play Therapy as well as the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS).  Participants will understand the intermodal use of Play Therapy and IFS as it relates to helping clients develop metaphors to externalize challenges.

Learning Objectives: After successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. analyze the theories of Adlerian and Child Centered Play Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Expressive therapy as they relate to the idea of externalizing problems.
    2. demonstrate basic understanding of Internal Family Systems and the integration into the playroom.
    3. demonstrate three play therapy techniques that can be used in combination with IFS.

About our presenter: Stefani Misiph, LMHC, RPT-S™ has been a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ for over 15 years. She feels confident working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is Adjunct Faculty in the Expressive Therapy and Mental Health Counseling graduate department at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a local and national trainer. She brings 20 years of experience to her clients in Florida and Massachusetts, as she is licensed in both states. She is in both private practice as well as a consultant in the IFS Telehealth Collective.

Her journey in IFS began in 2010 as she noticed the need for clients to “befriend their learning edges.” In her experience, the more we understand ourselves and our parts that are trying to help us, the easier it becomes to actually achieve our best self. She is working on creating more training integrating IFS and Play Therapy and feel very passionate about this connection.
