Implementing Adlerian Sand Tray with Preschoolers

This workshop  offers a comprehensive exploration of utilizing sand tray techniques, within an Adlerian play therapy view, to support the emotional and developmental needs of young children. Through a blend of theoretical foundations and practical applications, participants will delve into the unique dynamics of conducting play therapy sessions utilizing sand tray with preschool-aged children.

Key components of the training include interpreting symbolic play and nonverbal communication within the sand tray, guiding therapeutic interactions, and adapting interventions to meet the individual needs of each child. Cultural sensitivity, diversity awareness, and collaboration with families are also emphasized to ensure inclusive and effective therapeutic practices.

By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with practical skills and strategies to integrate Sand Tray Play Therapy techniques seamlessly into their work with preschoolers, promoting social-emotional development, resilience, and overall well-being in young children.

Learning Objectives: After successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the fundamentals of Sand Tray within Adlerian Play Therapy.
  2. Utilize skills to interpret symbolic play within sand tray play therapy interventions
  3. Integrate three methods of sand tray to fit the needs of the play therapy client.
  4. Demonstrate practical strategies to collaborate with families and caregivers around play therapy and sand tray.
